Actress Kangana Ranaut recently voiced her strong opinions on filmmaker Karan Johar's upcoming romantic comedy, "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani," starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. Taking to her Instagram stories on Saturday, Kangana criticized Johar, accusing him of self-proclaimed status as the "flag bearer of Indian cinema" and churning out repetitive films.

In her scathing remarks, Kangana expressed that viewers are no longer fooled by formulaic and creatively lacking movies filled with fake sets and over-the-top costumes. She questioned the authenticity of such depictions, wondering who dresses like that in real life, especially in cities like Delhi. The actress didn't mince words, calling the film a "mess" and shaming Karan Johar for rehashing ideas from his old '90s movies. She also questioned the staggering budget of ₹250 crore invested in the production, especially when the industry is facing challenging times, and genuine talent is struggling to secure funds.

Kangana further drew comparisons, highlighting the contrast between "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" and last week's Hollywood release, Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer." While the latter delves into the complexities of atomic science and the life of nuclear physicist J Robert Oppenheimer, she expressed surprise at Indian audiences seemingly favoring repetitive melodramatic content over intellectually stimulating films.

The outspoken actress called on Karan Johar to step aside and make way for new and innovative filmmakers who can bring fresh perspectives to Indian cinema. She urged him not to waste funds on formulaic projects and suggested that he retire gracefully, allowing space for the industry's young talents to shine and create revolutionary films.

Kangana Ranaut's critical remarks have sparked discussions among fans and film enthusiasts alike, reigniting debates on creativity, innovation, and the need for a diverse range of stories in Indian cinema. As the industry grapples with challenges, her call for change and exploration of new narratives has added fuel to the ongoing conversation surrounding the future of Bollywood.
